Mrs. Borja joined Newport Capital Partners in 2016 and is a Director on the Accounting team and the Firm’s Controller.  In this capacity, she has oversight of NCP’s property, fund, and investor accounting and reporting functions.  Additionally, she has management responsibilities of the accounting team and assists the CFO with corporate accounting and compliance requirements.

Mrs. Borja has over 13 years of real estate accounting experience including real estate consolidation and transaction accounting, and property accounting.  Prior to joining NCP, she was a Supervisor on the Financial Reporting Outsourcing team with RSM US LLP.  Her responsibilities included accounting and reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) on behalf of corporate and real estate fund clients.  Prior to RSM, she was a Senior Accountant with Lincoln Property Company and prepared financial statements for the firm’s property management clients, reviewed and reconciled variances, and completed disbursement and audit requests.  She began her career as a Staff Accountant with Prairie Management & Development and provided management support on general ledger and accounts receivable analysis.

Mrs. Borja received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy, magna cum laude, from Northern Illinois University.  She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and supporter of St. Benedict Parish in Chicago, IL and nonprofit organization Feed My Starving Children.
